How to make laptop hotspot on windows 8. While the windows 7 we can always use a WiFi HotSpot or Connectify software to create a WiFi hotspot, I finally want to create a hotspot using the Windows 8 operating system. The procedure to create a hotspot on Windows 8 is slightly different with Windows 7. When I try to do it on a laptop with OS Windows 8, I saw that setting to create an ad hoc network through the Network and Sharing Center does not exist. Then the only way to make ad-hoc is to use netsh utility.

  • Right click on the bottom left corner of the desktop and select Command Prompt ( Admin ) or with the keyboard combination Windows + X and select Command Prompt ( Admin )

  • After appearing Command Prompt type the following sentence at the Command Prompt : "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = hollow key = 11221122"
  • Press Enter
Note :
• ssid is the name of the wifi hotspot
• key is the password of wifi hotspots

  • Once the dialog appears " The hosted network mode has been set to allow . " , " The SSID of the hosted metwork has been successfully changed . " and , " The user key passphrase of the hosted network has been successfully changed.". Next, type the following code in windows CMD and press Enter: "netsh wlan start hostednetwork"
  • Press Enter and the dialog appears " The hosted network started "

  • Go to Control Panel > Network ank Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings , and check whether your existing wifi hotspot

  • Right click on your modem and click Properties > Click the Sharing tab menus , match the following picture :

  • Click OK , and wifi hotspot you 're ready to use
If you want to disable wifi hotspot back open a Command Prompt and type the following dialogue : "
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork" and press Enter

NB : wifi hotspot will automatically shut off if your computer / laptop in Shut Down or Restart
